The United States (“US”) Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) took action regarding tobacco market in the US including authorizing marketing of IQOS Tobacco Heating System with “reduced exposure” information and issuing warning letters to several companies to remove their flavored disposable e-cigarettes and e-liquid products.

In order to reduce COVID-19 pandemic’s adverse effects, some measures have been taken regarding social and economic life in Turkey. Turkish Personal Data Protection Board (“Board”) published an announcement on 26 June 2020, regarding several points to be taken into consideration when fulfilling the obligation to inform (“Announcement”) stating that data controllers in Turkey do not seem to be transparent on their processing activities.

Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (“TITCK”) has recently announced that documents by means of conformity certificates issued by both local and foreign institutions especially during COVID-19 pandemic times are void pursuant to regulations concerning medical devices in Turkey. TITCK adds that, documents are mostly issued for products such as non-sterile medical masks and aprons having the titles of ‘Certificate of Compliance’, ‘Attestation of Compliance’, ‘Certificate of Conformity’, ‘Certificate of Notification’, ‘Certificate of Registration’, ‘Documentation Review’ or similar.
