Turkish Personal Data Protection Board’s Latest Decision on Cross-Border Data Transfer

Turkish Personal Data Protection Board (“Board”), in its decision numbered 2020/559 dated July 22, 2020 (“Decision No. 2020/559”) evaluated cross-border data transfer rules of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698 (“Law No. 6698”) and the Convention of the Council of Europe for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data numbered 108 dated January 28, 1981 (“Convention No. 108”).

Turkey to Step in to Regulate Micro-Mobility Vehicles

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey (“the Ministry”), took the first step in setting standards for micro-mobility vehicles such as electric bicycles and electric scooters. Presidency of Defense Industries introduced its data labelling platform called DATA HIVE recently. With the platform, it is aimed to obtain the labelled data required in artificial intelligence projects, especially in the defense industry, as a crowd-sourced, collecting labelled data sets in a single source, preventing the formation of data centers on their own, and increasing time and workforce efficiency.

COVID-19: Short Term Working Payments Extended in Turkey

As per the Presidential Decree No.2915 published in the Official Gazette No. 31230 dated August 31, 2020, short time working payment period is extended for two additional months to the short time working period determined under the Presidential Decree No.2706 June 29, 2020 and extended for one month with the Presidential Decree No.2810 dated July 30, 2020.
