A new communique amending the Communique on Export-Prohibited and Pre-Approved Goods was published in the Official Gazette No. 31080 dated March 26, 2020. Accordingly, export of intensive care medical equipment such as ventilators are now subject to pre-authorization of Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (“Agency”). Minister of Commerce Ruhsar Pekcan stated that the amendment on the communique was issued within the scope of measures implemented against Covid-19, to ensure that the respiratory devices meet the domestic demand.
Accordingly; ventilators, ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), oxygen concentrators, ventilation consumables (flow sensor, breathing valve, oxygen sensor, ventilator circuits), patient circuits (anesthesia \ ventilator circuit), iv cannula, intubation tubes and intensive care monitors have been added to the list of goods subject to prior authorization of the Agency.
