The Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (“TITCK”) has announced on May 15, 2020 that temporary license application deadline for biocides has been extended until May 31, 2020 pursuant to the Department of Cosmetic Products’ decision numbered E.1268 dated May 12, 2020.
Accordingly, the test results regarding effectiveness, accelerated stability, and irritation shall be submitted to the TITCK in due time. In case the test results are not submitted until the deadline or the results are incompliant with the applicable legislation the temporary licenses will be cancelled.
In addition, with regards to the ongoing temporary biocide license processes, any outstanding documentation shall be submitted until July 15, 2020. It has been stated that requests regarding incomplete applications or payment will not be accepted as of July 15, 2020.
In case the biocide is desired to remain on the market after expiration of the temporary license, an application for renewal shall be submitted during the temporary license period pursuant to the Articles 12 and 14 of the Regulation on Biocides, as temporarily licensed biocides will be removed from the market with license expiry. It has been stated that in such case, the license number will remain the same and a second license fee will not be collected. However, if a new license application is submitted after the expiration of the temporary biocide license, the application will be deemed a new application, not a renewal application.
