Turkey has recently amended its regulation on basic criteria for assignment, monitoring and supervision of conformity assessment institutions by Ministry of Industry and Technology (“Ministry”) and remote supervision has been introduced in case of extraordinary situations such as natural disasters, epidemics, quarantine and security measures.
Thus, the Ministry is authorized to request the manufacturer to take necessary corrective measures and not to issue a certificate of conformity in case the manufacturer does not comply with the requirements of the relevant technical regulation or the relevant harmonized national standard or technical specification, and, if necessary, suspend or withdraw the certificate in depending on non-conformity of the products and to coordinate with other competent authorities remotely where there is a natural disasters, epidemics, quarantine and security measures. Even the regulation allows the remote supervision it is also stated that it is of the priority to conduct the supervision on-site where possible.
