Corona Outbreak: Industrial Property Applications

As per the Law Amending Certain Acts No.7226 published in the repeating Official Gazette No. 31080 dated March 26, 2020, all periods regarding the origination, use or termination of a right, including certain periods specified in the Industrial Property Law No.6769 (“Law No.6769”) have been suspended from March 13, 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (“the Office”) has published an announcement on April 8, 2020 regarding the periodical deadlines stipulated under Law No.6769. Accordingly:, (i) deadline for the actions with a deadline between and including March 13, 2020 and March 27, 2020 will be extended to May 15, 2020; (ii) remaining time for the actions with a deadline between and including March 13, 2020 and March 27, 2020 will be added on May 1, 2020, (iii) 49 days will be added to the deadline given by the Office for the actions with a commencement date before March 13, 2020 and with deadline on May 1, 2020 or later, (iv) The commencement date given by the Office will begin on May 1, 2020 for the actions with the commencement date between and including March 13, 2020 and  April 30, 2020.
